TRAINING & CAPACITY BUILDING COORDINATOR Green Agric Technology Limited (GAT)
Role Description
This is a full-time Training and Capacity Building Coordinator position based in Jos, Plateau State, with regular field travel across Plateau State and the North Central geopolitical zone. This is a mid-level role reporting to the Programmes Director at GAT’s Abuja headquarters and working closely alongside the Jos Programme Officer and Field Agriculture Assistant on the ground.
The Training and Capacity Building Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and delivering all of GAT’s training programmes and capacity building interventions in Jos and across Plateau State covering green entrepreneurship, sustainable agriculture, agribusiness development, environmental education, youth empowerment, women’s economic inclusion, and financial literacy. The role requires someone who is deeply rooted in the Jos community, understands the social, cultural, and economic landscape of Plateau State, and has the relationships, language skills, and practical experience to design and deliver training that genuinely resonates with local participants.
Key Responsibilities
Training Coordination and Delivery
- Coordinate and deliver GAT’s training programmes and capacity building sessions in Jos and across Plateau State,
- Facilitate engaging, participatory, and inclusive training sessions for diverse participant groups including urban gardeners, market women, youth entrepreneurs, smallholder farmers, school children, and community organisations.
- Adapt training materials, curricula, and facilitation approaches developed by GAT’s Abuja team to suit the specific language, literacy, cultural, and contextual needs of Plateau State participants.
- Deliver training in English, Hausa, and other relevant local languages, ensuring that language is never a barrier to participation or learning.
- Support the planning and logistics of all training events, venue arrangements, participant mobilisation, materials preparation, refreshments, and documentation — in coordination with the Office Administrator.
Training Design and Materials Development
- Support the adaptation and localisation of GAT’s training content for the Jos and Plateau State context, identifying gaps, cultural considerations, and contextual factors that should inform curriculum design.
- Develop supplementary training materials, job aids, visual learning tools, and community-facing content that are appropriate for participants with varying levels of formal education.
- Identify and integrate local examples, case studies, and success stories from Plateau State into training content to make learning relevant, relatable, and motivating.
- Document training sessions systematically participant lists, session notes, photographs, feedback forms, outcome data and submit records to the M&E Officer at HQ.
Community Facilitator Network
- Identify, recruit, and support a small network of community-based co-facilitators and field trainers in Plateau State who can extend GAT’s training reach into markets, communities, and areas that the core team cannot cover alone.
- Provide coaching, guidance, and quality assurance support to community facilitators, ensuring consistent delivery standards.
- Leverage existing community networks including market associations, women’s groups, youth organisations, church and mosque networks, and traditional leaders to mobilise participants and build community ownership of GAT’s training activities.
Reporting and Documentation
- Produce monthly training reports for the Programmes Director at HQ, covering: sessions delivered, participant numbers and demographics, learning outcomes, challenges, and recommendations.
- Contribute field data, participant stories, photographs, and case studies to GAT’s M&E reporting and communications output.
- Maintain complete and structured training records for all sessions delivered in Plateau State.
Qualifications
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Agricultural Extension, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience in training delivery, community capacity building, or facilitation ideally in an agricultural, environmental, or development sector context in Plateau State or the North Central zone.
- Proven ability to design and deliver engaging, participatory training sessions for diverse audiences particularly women, youth, and community groups with varying literacy levels.
- Fluency in English and Hausa; proficiency in Berom or other Plateau State languages is a strong advantage.
- Deep knowledge of the Jos community, its markets, networks, institutions, cultural dynamics, and social landscape.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with a demonstrated ability to engage and mobilise diverse community stakeholders.
- Genuine commitment to gender inclusion, youth empowerment, and the economic advancement of marginalised communities.
- Based in Jos, with a well-established presence and network in the local community.
Desirable
- Master’s degree in Education, Development Studies, Agricultural Extension, Gender Studies, or a related field.
- Experience in green economy, environmental education, sustainable agriculture, or agribusiness training.
- Experience delivering training for entrepreneurship, financial inclusion, or market-based development programmes.
- Familiarity with monitoring and evaluation tools, KPI tracking, and results documentation.
- Experience working with institutional development partners, NGOs, or international organisations.
- Proficiency in additional local languages spoken in Plateau State.
